Le petit pistier is an ode to the classical and traditional aura of the French and Belgian circus with which Batist van Baekel grew up. An homage to the atmosphere of the big tops, the character play, storytelling, physicality and authentic circus experiences.

The act tells us the story of ‘le petit pistier’, a young boy traveling with the circus. Normally he is responsible for cleaning up and keeping the piste clean, but when the next performer happens not to come onstage he suddenly finds himself with an opportunity to step into the stage lights. Stressed but filled with excitement, he tries to convince the audience of his skill, sharing his joy through juggling and movement.
